    Languages pull down

I would like to see an easy way to design a user interactive "Language switch" or pull down menu

to make it easier for us to supply multiple text (translated) versions for the same contents

So that a user from for instance Japan will either se all text in his own language depending on their browser settings, and/or have the opportunity to select an available translation from a pulldown menu.

Create your gallery and upload it. Then save the gallery under a new name, to create a copy and change all the captions and other text to another language. You can translate and change the Shozam navigation links on the Label tab. Upload it and then create an intro page on your website. For example, Click here for English gallery, Click here for Japanese gallery...

I know, not exactly what you suggested... just a workaround.

Yes it will as a matter of fact. Yes I understand your need, and it would be like phbBB forums, where all data is kept but you choose whether to have spanish, english, italian or french interface. Useful indeed, and it only needs language file .lng to translate. 602software for groupware has this lng file...

Yes , it will be helpful for visitors around the world navigate thru the gallery easily...

But only Shozam navigation labels would be affected by the language selection. Any captions, etc. you have entered would be displayed as you have entered. So would that be satisfactory?

Yes, to begin and perhaps have in the future a corresponding .xml file for each language.

    Eric,

My curiosity got the best of me regarding translating of Shozam.  Just for fun, I tried:

       Google Translate

It seems to work OK in translating the text parts of Shozam in most cases.  When setting it up, I left all the languages in it but you can restrict it to certain languages.  Becuase it is not part of Shozam, it opens the translated gallery in a frame.  Also, the translation doesn't follow into the Slideshow.

I added it in the HTML below the gallery using the Business edition.

       Example Gallery with Google Translate

It was fun playing with the different languages even though I will probably never use it on any of my web pages.

    Re: Languages pull down

Thanks Cowboy. Since I get a lot of traffic from around the world, I gave this a try and it works pretty good. Not sure if it will get used alot since English is pretty much a first language in most countries now. But I would guess a few people would use it. I've only used it on my main webpages for now. Will probably tinker with putting the code in various files inside Shozam's galleries and see what kind of mess I can create...LOL. Like you say, "Fix it til it's broke"

    Re: Languages pull down

I broke it Sad I found (in Firefox anyway) that if you do a page translate, the translator will default to that translation when you go back to that site. I cleared the cache, history and all the other stuff, but it still defaulted to the translated language. The only way I could get back to normal was to clear the cache, etc. close the browser, restart, clear cache again. Back to normal. It was a bit irritating, especially since I can't read the foreign languages.
