    Header Links

On the links tab on step “5 Gallery” I have added a link called Workshops/Lectures. Now I need some help on exactly how to link to the information that would be available if the link were clicked on.Example: Click on the link Workshops/LecturesI want the following information to be displayed; Galapagos Island workshop March 8th through March 15th on the yacht Flamingo.Where would this text reside? How do I link to it?Your help will be greatly appreciated.Steve NobleMoments in Time PhotographyOffice              (775) 265-4414Cell                  (775) 315-3344Website           http://www.SteveNoblePhotography.com/Email               MomentsInTime.Photography@Gmail.comQuestions        Questions@SteveNoblePhotography.com

    Re: Header Links

Here's one way I set up a link like what I think you're after. Look at this gallery and see if something like that would work. I put the link in the HTML in Step 5.

    http://www.northwest-scenescapes.com/test/index.htm

The link will open in the same window to a text file I created in notepad. There is a return to gallery link in the file so that they can return to the gallery intro page. I put the return.html file in the same main folder on the server where the shozam gallery resides.

Here is the code I used for the link as put in the html in step 5

    <center><a href="http://www.northwest-scenescapes.com/test/return.html">Workshops/Lectures</a></center>

To put in with the links you already have you can take out the '<center>" and </center> tags and place the code wherever you like in the other html you have.

Here is the text file I created with notepad and saved as return.html With the "return to gallery tag they will be returned to the gallery in the same browser window.

<body><center>Galapagos Island workshop March 8th through March 15th on the yacht Flamingo.<br><br><a

    href="http://www.northwest-scenescapes.com/test/index.htm">Back to Gallery</a></body>

All you need to do is edit the URL tag ( a href) to the folder on your server where your shozam gallery is.

    Hope that all makes sense

There are probably other ways to do this.

    Re: Header Links

BTW, the link above the gallery is there, just a little hard to see. The whole example took me less than 5 minutes so didn't spend time on font colors, etc.

Looked at your gallery for a few minutes. Some beautiful shots there. Will go back for a closer look.

    Re: Header Links

Your test site does do what I want however I still do not know where to place the informational text. I understand that the text needs to be on-line so I can create a URL link to it. I called Network Solutions (my web host) and they said that the page of information that I want to link to must be created through Shozam. Apparently I could use their software to easily upload a page of information but not if I used Shozam to create the website, I can use one or the other but not both. This is getting very frustrating, please help.

    Re: Header Links

What your webhost is telling you doesn't really make sense to me. Since the information file is merely a text file saved as return.html I don't understand why they say it needs to be created with Shozam. All the code is merely hyperlinks which should work no matter what as far as I know.

Do me a favor. Email me at info@northwest-scenescapes.com. Copy the code you inserted in Step 5 in Shozam. Tell me where in the menu above the gallery you want it to show up and I'll fix the code for you. I will send you the html file (with the information). You could edit it with wordpad to change fonts, size, etc and resave it as return.html. Then upload your gallery again and put the return.html file in the same folder as your Shozam gallery (where the index.htm file is). Also send me the URL to where your gallery exists so I can get the URL right in the tags.

    Thanks,

    Tom

    Re: Header Links

Photoguy, the Shozam Helpdesk just sent you a response to the topic too; I am posting it here for everyone's benefit:

That is slightly unusual response from your webhost. Typically the free tools provided by webhosts are, well... not very good. However, it is surprising they would not allow you to just create a simple page. I guess what they are saying is that they set up the tool so it completely takes over your website and if you enable the tool, you cannot have any other pages. Please double-check with them and make sure that is what they mean.In that case you will need to:
    • Find a better tool - other Shozammers may have input on this, please post to the Shozam Forums
    • Use the existing info Page to add the information you want - simplest, albeit most limited solution
    • Use Notepad to create your page from scratch (or as a copy of the existing Info Page) - though if you have no HTML experience this is not advised
    • Use a third party service that allow you to create web content, many times for free (a Facebook page, a blog, etc.) - easy to do but requires investigating the solution that is best for you
