Downloaded theme fails to apply when I upload gallery to my website

This morning I downloaded and installed the twinkle-black-mini theme.  I applied it to a gallery that I already have, previewed it and it worked perfectly.  When I went to my website to check it, the old theme was still in place.  Just to be sure, I re-uploaded all files (not just recent).  The old theme was still there.  How can I get the downloaded themes to work on the website?  Thanks.  Lynn

Try cleaning your temp files and cache.

If that doesn't work, delete the gallery from your server and upload it again.

I never use the upload function of Shozam but use WS_FTP Pro and choose Overwrite.

Plus, I have the habit of deleting and uploading files to remove Gremlins that will appear on a regular basis on web servers.

I don't get concerned about upload times.  Just start the process and go do something else.

Thanks for the quick reply.  Some more questions:  Is Filezilla an OK FTP (it's what I have now)?  How do I know which files to upload with it (not great skills in this area; maybe I'll get better)?  Lynn

    Lynn,

    Filezilla should be fine.

Just FTP your Folder (Directory) where you saved the generated gallery.  All files should go up with it.  Then, link to it from your site.

On a side note, I don't use a gallery for my main index page (default) under the URL.  I don't believe you can get proper SEO doing it that way.  My galleries are included within a site.

Example ---> Armstrong Health & Fitness

Click on Photos.  I bring visitors back with a link in the footer on that site.

    Hope this helps you some.

    Lynn,

A couple of quick key commands that are good to know:

    • F5 = does a page cache refresh (still displays what the ISP has stored in their cache), also Ctrl + R
    • Ctrl + F5 = forces an unconditional refresh from the server (avoids all client computer and ISP cache and ask the original server to send the latest data)

Use the latter for an easy way to refresh the content in your browser when you are making changes to your website. This works in IE primarily but I believe it is supported in at least Firefox, if not accross all web browsers.
