Hello there -
I've been using Shozam for about a year - and LOVE it; it's a fabulous ap that makes me appear more fabulous than I really am...but now I'm hoping to take the next "step" in terms of complexity. Presently I'm building a website using website builder tools provided by my host company, (and a pile of html and css books frm the library), with the intent of flexing available e-commerce functionality. To date, I have not attemped to sell anything online - the web gallery has basically served to drive sales through my art studio. (But I need to flex technology better, since I've outgrown the capability of Shozam's info page, and my business needs are changing). Basically, the plan is to transfer text-type content that typically appears on the info page in Shozam to some of the new website pages, and then add on to this with other information things affecting my business. However, I want to continue using my Shozam gallery setup even though my web host company provides a version of a similar (but not equal) photo gallery tool online, by means of placing links from the new Home page to/from the existing shozam gallery. (In a nutshell - linking a website "front end" to my shozam gallery). Consequent to this, the website "back end" will consist of shopping cart/inventory tracking/general e-commerce capabilities, (which I'm almost finished configuring). The goal is to have an elegant yet simple process-controlled method for effectively selling my artwork online. With me so far?
So here's where I need some guidance from all you Shozam gurus out there.... (I'm not especially tech-savvy but capable of following the lead of someone who knows what the best practice is). Because I'd like to keep my current shozam gallery online until such time as the website setup is fully mature and configured properly, I need to plan the transition carefully since I don't want to take my shozam gallery offline until the switchover. For the integrated website (e-com website with linked shozam gallery), I need to generate a version of the gallery that has an entirely different info page setup - no content really other than perhaps a link back to the website home page, (a return if you will). Has anyone out there had any experience with this sort of thing? No doubt there are varying ways to effect what I'm trying to achieve; your help in this regard would be really appreciated. I would especially appreciate any advice you might have regarding naming conventions and file organization, having fumbled my way through one or two inadvertent disasters, thanks to not being consistent about things, and not really understanding the file system well enough.
Thanks in advance, users....
