As an afterthought to earlier posting, vertical vs. horizontal themes, my comments apply in the most part to the intro screen itself. Individual pages and views are well accommodated in both horizontal and vertical formats.

Static Image Intro

Although I like the Flash Intro Animations used by Shozam, I feel there may be a time where you need a static image for the Intro such as a logo or a photo with text on it.
